Summary

Since it opened in 2004, Full Tilt Poker, second largest room in the world, could always set new standards. It offered an innovative software and took an aggressive marketing approach, never afraid to take risks.

On Black Friday in April 2011, Full Tilt Poker and its owners was accused by the American Department of Justice of illegally operating in the United States. It was then discovered the players funds had been misused and were not available for refunds. This caused a long period-over a year for Canadians- where the players funds were held hostage. American players still have to be repaid.

For Canadians players, the situation was corrected when the Rational Group Limited, also owner of PokerStars, bought Full Tilt Poker. Since then, both rooms are operated by the same people, insuring players they will be treated on both sites with the same high standards of integrity.

Full Tilt Poker is now involved in a fierce fight with other rooms for the second worldwide place, way behind PokerStars. This may bring some very interesting promotions in a near future.

Full Tilt Poker will probably please many Quebecers as they have reached an agreement with the Bell Center and will organize different promos with the Montreal Canadiens.

Highlights / Weaknesses

  • Highlights
  • Possibility to quickly tranfer money from or toward PokerStars
  • Weaknesses

Bonus and Promotions 8 on 10 - Very good

Full Tilt Poker offers new depositors a bonus of 100%, up to 600$. It is unlocked in 1$ increments per 25 loyalty points cumulated. The bonus is then given to the player in segments of either 10% of the initial amount deposited or 20$, whichever is the lowest. Players have 90 days to collect their bonus.

Loyalty Program 6 on 10 - Medium

While you play on Full Tilt Poker you accumulate points. These points can then be traded for tournament tickets, cash or items in their online store. Five levels are offered in what is called the Edge Rewards program. Obviously, the higher rank, the better the rewards are.

The loyalty program is very traditional and simple. However, the old players that were used to the old, more linear program on FTP will be disappointed. The new program is not very good, offering less than what its competitors offer.

Nonetheless, Full Tilt Poker runs some promotions which will change your return rate during some of them.

Game Variety 10 on 10 - The best

Full Tilt Poker offers most games available, and because of its traffic, it is, aside from PokerStars, one of the best places to play some of the less popular games.

Full Tilt Poker also offers Rush Poker, the first speed poker product ever offered to players.

Tournament Traffic 9 on 10 - Excellent

Here's one good reason to play on Full Tilt Poker. The room offers a guaranteed prize pool for each multi table tournament it holds! With different formats, a high traffic and the popular Rush tournaments, the place is ideal to play nice tournaments without the high number of participants PokerStars draws.

Ring Game Traffic 9 on 10 - Excellent

Full Tilt Poker competes with IPoker and PartyPoker for the #2 spot in the world. While PokerStars is way ahead, FTP draws an average of 3 000 real money players on average, with peaks up to 4 500. They are currently the second highest for cash games.

Software quality 10 on 10 - The best

Full Tilt Poker offers one of the best software in the industry. It is recognized for its speed and easiness of use.

Soft competition 7 on 10 - Good

While the level varies a lot between the micros and the nose-bleed, the fact remains that in low and mid limits a lot of regulars play on Full Tilt Poker. many players trying to make poker their trade play on Full Tilt Poker, which makes it a tough place for most players.

Whether you play tournaments or cash games, bring your A-game to their tables.

Support 8 on 10 - Very good

Full Tilt Poker 's support is available by email 24/7. it has improved a lot since Rational Limited has bought the company. However, there is still no live chat available

Security 9 on 10 - Excellent

The Black Friday episode has left players with a sour taste in their mouths, and it's understandable, especially for American players. But all of this was caused by the old administration, while the new one has on the contrary saved the Canadian players funds when it bought the site.

As PokerStars sailed through Black Friday without hurting the players, and they now own Full Tilt Poker, it's safe to assume that security is better than it ever was on Full Tilt Poker now.

Deposit & Withdrawal 10 on 10 - The best

Full Tilt Poker offers many options for both deposits and withdrawals. The process is fast and efficient for both.

Deposit options:

Visa and Master Card ( gift cards, prepaid cards and regular), QuickDeposit, Insta Debit, Webmoney, Click2Pay, EntroPay, bank transfer and P2P transfers.

Withdrawal options:

Visa, Click2Pay, Moneybookers, Insta Debit, Click and Buy and check.

Final result: We give Full Tilt Poker a rating of 8.60 on 10.
